Choose Your Method

Every brew method pulls out something different in the coffee. Espresso creates intensity and body. Pour-over highlights clarity and detail. French press builds texture and richness. Use the guides below to get consistent results from any ARDITO roast.

Espresso

For concentrated flavor, body, and intensity.

RECOMMENDED STARTING POINT

Coffee: 18g
Yield: 38-40g espresso
Ratio: 1:2
Brew time: 25–30 seconds

 

GRIND & WATER

Grind: Fine
Water: 201°F (94°C)

STEPS

  1. Grind 18g of coffee fine.
  2. Distribute evenly in the portafilter.
  3. Tamp level and firm.
  4. Pull the shot aiming for 38-40g out.
  5. Adjust grind finer if shot runs too fast.
  6. Adjust grind coarser if shot runs too slow.

DIAL IN TIPS

Shot too fast → grind finer
Shot too slow → grind coarser
Too sour → longer extraction or finer grind
Too bitter → shorter extraction or coarser grind

Drip Coffee

For a balanced, dependable cup with body and clarity.

RECOMMENDED STARTING POINT

Ratio: 1:16
Example: 25g coffee / 400g water
Brew time: 4–6 minutes

GRIND & WATER

Grind: Medium
Water: 200°F–205°F

STEPS

  1. Measure 25g of coffee.
  2. Grind medium.
  3. Add to filter basket.
  4. Brew with 400g of water.
  5. Let the brew finish fully before serving.

DIAL IN TIPS

Too weak → more coffee or finer grind
Too strong → less coffee or coarser grind
Too bitter → grind coarser
Too sour → grind slightly finer

BEST FOR

RISVEGLIO 

French Press

For a heavier body and fuller mouthfeel.

RECOMMENDED STARTING POINT

Ratio: 1:15
Example: 30g coffee / 450g water
Brew time: 4 minutes

GRIND & WATER

Grind: Coarse
Water: ~200°F

STEPS

  1. Measure 30g of coffee.
  2. Grind coarse.
  3. Add coffee to French press.
  4. Pour in 450g of hot water.
  5. Stir gently after pouring.
  6. Place lid on and wait 4 minutes.
  7. Press slowly and serve immediately.

DIAL IN TIPS

Too muddy or bitter → coarser grind or less time
Too weak → use more coffee
Too sour → steep a little longer

Pour Over

For clarity, structure, and flavor separation.

RECOMMENDED STARTING POINT

Ratio: 1:16
Example: 22g coffee / 350g water
Brew time: 2.5–3.5 minutes

GRIND & WATER

Grind: Medium to medium fine
Water: 200°F–205°F

STEPS

  1. Rinse the filter with hot water.
  2. Add 22g of ground coffee.
  3. Start bloom with ~45g water.
  4. Wait 30–45 seconds.
  5. Continue pouring slowly, in stages, to a total of 350 g.
  6. Let drawdown finish completely.

DIAL IN TIPS

Drawdown too fast → grind finer
Drawdown too slow → grind coarser
Too sharp or sour → finer grind or hotter water
Too bitter or flat → coarser grind

Cold Brew

For a smooth, low-acidity brew with long-lasting strength.

RECOMMENDED STARTING POINT

Ratio: 1:8 (concentrate)
Example: 100g coffee / 800g water
Steep time: 12–18 hours

GRIND & WATER

Grind: Coarse
Water: Cold or room temperature

STEPS

  1. Measure 100g coffee.
  2. Grind coarse.
  3. Combine with 800g water in a jar or brewer.
  4. Stir gently to saturate grounds.
  5. Steep 12–18 hours.
  6. Filter thoroughly.
  7. Serve over ice or dilute to taste.

DIAL IN TIPS

Too strong → dilute with water or milk
Too weak → use more coffee in the next batch
Too bitter → shorten steep time slightly

Troubleshooting Your Brew

TASTES SOUR

  • Try a finer grind
